The company

In the Umbrian countryside, in the hillside just below the medieval village of Castello delle Forme, in the municipality of Marsciano (Perugia), on the ridge overlooking the Tiber Valley, Gianpiero Rossi, assisted by his wife and daughters, holds the reins of the Piccola Cantina Rossi. They produce wine and oil, typical and special, in bottles, bag-in-box and cans, which can be purchased in the traditional sale at the farm that does not exclude the innovative on-line sale, directly from their website. Their products are intended for customers who are attentive to quality and authenticity. In their labels the concept of craftsmanship and tradition is highlighted, in their names the concept of family and their history.


La Piccola Cantina Rossi is 'pet friendly' We are a nature and animal friendly company. We want to say it and be it in fact. Our 'Wine-Experiences' are designed for our guests and their four-legged friends.
Productive process

The farm follows the organic cultivation method in its four hectares of vineyards and one of olive groves. It mainly produces IGT 'Umbria' wines and extra virgin olive oil. For wine production, it follows the specifications of the VinNatur association. The company's objective is to breed healthy plants that are highly resistant to adversity, paying particular attention to the biological fertility of the soil, the protection of biodiversity and the balance of the vineyard/olive-grove ecosystem, where the following is practised: native grassing in the corridors between the rows; grass management with mowing; use of sulphur-based products to combat powdery mildew; use of copper-based products to combat downy mildew; manual harvesting. In the winery, only grapes exclusively from the winery's own production are processed. These are pressed with a vertical manual wooden press and fermentation takes place spontaneously with the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts and at cellar temperature. In winemaking, the only additive/ingredient allowed is sulphur dioxide in minimal quantities, and the wines are not filtered. The olives, on the other hand, are cold pressed in a mill just a few hundred metres away, using new-generation equipment. Wine and oil are bottled directly by the Piccola Cantina Rossi.

The Piccola Cantina Rossi, participates in the artisanal organic farmers' market, UMBRIA TERRA VIVA, held every first Sunday of the month, in the historic centre of Perugia in Piazza Piccinino, from 9 am to 7 pm.
