The winery is located in Umbria, in Castiglione del Lago (PG), and was founded in 1957. It associates the best wineries in the hills of the Trasimeno area; lands that have been considered ideal for growing grapes since Etruscan times. There are about 200 contributing members with 300 hectares of vineyards. The adoption of modern cultivation techniques that respect the traditions of the past, the lowering of yields per hectare, major investments in the cellar, and the technical contribution of qualified professionals in the sector are the ingredients that make this winery one of the most interesting realities of this territory. The link with the territory is one of the characteristics of Duca della Corgna wines, thanks also to the traditional vines of the Colli del Trasimeno area. In the second half of the 1990s, the winery began a programme of renewal and enhancement of the viticulture and oenology of the Trasimeno area, which led to the creation of the "Duca della Corgna" range of wines. This brand now represents the winery's entire range of high quality wines. The red grapes come from the slopes overlooking the lake and are mainly Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Merlot and the indigenous Trasimeno Gamay. The white grapes, on the other hand, come from the vineyards located closer to the shores of the lake and are mainly Grechetto and Trebbiano. Particular attention and care has been given to the indigenous Trasimeno Gamay and Grechetto vines. And it is precisely on Trasimeno Gamay that the winery has directed its greatest agronomic and oenological efforts to entrust it with the task of authoritatively representing the oenological potential of a small territory, but one that is widely evoked by quality. The wines made from Trasimeno Gamay vinified in purity are Poggio: Petroso, the Divina Villa , Divina Villa Riserva and Martavello.

ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS: Bright and intense ruby red, takes on garnet-coloured nuances during bottle ageing. The nose releases floral aromas of rose and myrtle berries, the purest and most original expression of Gamay Perugino. Through ageing in the bottle, the aromas become increasingly complex and intriguing and are also reminiscent of wild fennel and hints of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it has a sweet and inviting entrance, soft, structured, with gentle, velvety tannins.
