The Cooperativa Oleificio Pozzuolese, located in the green hills of Umbria, is in the municipality of Castiglione del Lago, a splendid medieval town, included in the guide of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in Italy', which overlooks the shores of Lake Trasimeno (a regional nature park). It is a historical Umbrian company, founded in 1969, as the derivation of an old oil mill dating back to 1900. The initiative was taken by a small number of local producers who, with their passion and dedication, have contributed to the continuous improvement and enhancement of the members' oil, which today number another 250, highlighting its qualities and offering it to consumers at a fair quality/price ratio.

Our members' olive groves extend in Umbria, in the hills around Lake Trasimeno, at an altitude of 300 - 500 metres above sea level. The main cultivars are Frantoio, Leccino, Moraiolo and Dolce Agogia. An important mention should be made of Dolce Agogia, which finds its 'cradle' right on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, making it an indigenous cultivar and unique in Italy. Through the efforts of the company, which provides technical assistance to members, we have arrived at the definition of the ideal harvest period in October and November. Our technologically advanced oil mill works in a continuous cycle and allows us to operate cold, limiting the use of water to a minimum in respect of environmental resources. The entire processing cycle is controlled to guarantee the very high quality of our oil. Storage and packaging are carried out in temperature-controlled premises at 15-17°C, and the steel tanks are inerted with food-grade nitrogen to safeguard the organoleptic and chemical characteristics of the product. No less important, the cooperative uses 100% electricity from renewable sources.
