Lunch in Assisi, guided tour, living crib in San Gregorio

Day 2 - 01 JANUARY 2026

VISIT TO ASSISI - LIVING NATIVITY OF SAN GREGORIO

12:30 pm - Meeting with the bus driver at the hotel and departure for Santa Maria degli Angeli (Assisi) for lunch in a local restaurant.

After lunch, transfer to Assisi, meet with the guide and guided tour of the city.

Peace and Good! This is the greeting with which Assisi welcomes you, a Franciscan place par excellence, not only in Umbria and Italy, but throughout the world. St Francis was in fact born in Assisi in 1182; in the place where it is believed his birthplace was located, today stands the Chiesa Nuova. It is in Assisi that he was baptised, in the Cathedral of San Rufino, it is among its alleys that he spent his youth dreaming of a future as a valiant knight, it is here, where the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore stands today, in the Piazza del Vescovado, that he stripped himself, repudiating earthly goods for love of God and his brothers and sisters. It is still in Assisi, in the Church of San Damiano, that praying before the crucifix, he receives the task of renewing the Church of Christ, it is in the town square that he begins his preaching and his work of charity and peace, and it is finally here that he dies in 1226. His remains are preserved in the Basilica of St Francis, but the saint still lives on in every stone of Assisi. Walk through its enchanting alleys and guided tour of the Franciscan places.

17:00 LIVING CRIME OF SAN GREGORIO DI ASSISI

At sunset, we will reach an ancient village where narrow streets and characteristic corners are enveloped in a mystical, magical atmosphere. Called together, the community reconstructs the Jewish environment of 2000 years ago and, amidst plays of light and shadow, sets up in the castle and along the river, enlivening the alleys and corners that are usually hidden: the living nativity scene.

Return to the hotel, dinner, rest of the evening free and overnight stay.

Perugia, markets, lunch and Gubbio with the World's Biggest Tree

Day 3 - 02 JANUARY 2026

VISIT OF PERUGIA & GUBBIO - THE WORLD'S BIGGEST CHRISTMAS TREE

Breakfast at the hotel and departure by bus to Perugia, meeting with the guide and guided tour of the city.

Perugia is the capital of Umbria, representing many cities in one, all fascinating and all full of history. Perugia is Etruscan, Perugia is Roman, Perugia is Medieval, Perugia is Renaissance! Between the many monuments, incredible works of art, Etruscan remains and the green surrounding countryside, a weekend in Umbria is a great choice for your next trip! Perugia is located in the green heart of Italy, on an acropolis set amidst the magnificent Umbrian landscape. The historic centre is small and compact: the hamlets, narrow streets and small houses tell endless stories. Perugia's history dates back to the ancient Etruscans, who settled here many centuries before Christ. The Romans established an important colony here called Perusia, while in the Middle Ages the city became a free commune, remaining prosperous and powerful until the 16th century, when it came under the control of the papacy. The endless stories of Perugia and its inhabitants, its streets, views and buildings have left their mark in the streets of the historic centre, and in the works of art that you will find numerous in the city's museums. Just think of the great masters Pietro Vannucci (known as Perugino) and Bernardino Betti (known as Pinturicchio) who both worked in Perugia, and the young Raphael who was a pupil in Perugino's studio until 1504. Lunch in a local restaurant with drinks included.

2.30 pm - Meeting with the driver and departure for Gubbio. At approximately 15:30, meeting with the tour guide for a guided tour of the city.

Gubbio is a city with a very ancient history: its roots go back as far as Palaeolithic times. The city is an incredible open-air museum, which in 1375 gave birth to one of the most influential Umbrian artists: Ottaviano Nelli, painter and miniaturist. In Gubbio you can breathe history from every stone and there are many traces of its glorious past: the Roman Theatre from the 1st century AD, the Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo which dominates the city and houses the remains of the saint, the patron saint of Gubbio, Piazza Grande, the Gothic Cathedral, the Ducal Palace, the Church of Santa Maria Nuova which houses the fresco 'La Madonna del Belvedere' by Ottaviano Nelli. In the Palazzo dei Consoli, seat of the Pinacoteca Civica, we find the 'Tavole Eugubine', seven bronze tablets bearing inscriptions in Umbrian characters from the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C. and Latin characters from the 2nd and 1st centuries B.C., very important documents for the history of the Italic peoples.

Gubbio and Christmas are a union that has lasted since 1981, when it was decided to install a Christmas Tree on the slopes of Monte Ingino in honour of the city's patron saint, St Ubaldo. A tree more than 750 metres high, with a base of 450 metres, a total area of about 130,000 m² (about thirty football pitches), more than 700 lighting points, and at the top a 1,000 m² star designed by another 250 luminaries. Such an achievement could certainly not go unnoticed and in fact in 1991 the Gubbio Tree entered the Guinness Book of Records as The World's Largest Christmas Tree. Stroll through the old town centre and markets: Father Christmas's House, Father Christmas's Passage, skating rink, nativity scenes on display, musical events, market with wooden boxes and gazebos.

6 pm - Switch-on of the impressive light installation, time for photos and departure for a tasty typical Umbrian dinner .

Return to the hotel and overnight stay. END OF BUS SERVICES.
