WELCOME! VISIT OF ASSISI

Welcome - Arrival in Umbria scheduled after lunch and accommodation in Agriturismo / Hotel 3* between Foligno and Perugia according to remaining availability at the time of confirmation. In the afternoon, we suggest an independent walk in Assisi.

Peace and Good! This is the greeting with which Assisi welcomes you, a Franciscan place par excellence, not only in Umbria and Italy, but throughout the world. St Francis was in fact born in Assisi in 1182; in the place where it is believed his birthplace was located, today stands the Chiesa Nuova. It is in Assisi that he was baptised, in the Cathedral of San Rufino, it is among its alleys that he spent his youth dreaming of a future as a valiant knight, it is here, where the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore stands today, in the Piazza del Vescovado, that he stripped himself, repudiating earthly goods for love of God and his brothers and sisters. It is still in Assisi, in the Church of San Damiano, that praying before the crucifix, he receives the task of renewing the Church of Christ, it is in the town square that he begins his preaching and his work of charity and peace, and it is finally here that he dies in 1226. His remains are preserved in the Basilica of St Francis, but the saint still lives on in every stone of Assisi. Stroll through its enchanting alleys and visit the Franciscan sites. Audio-guide available for hire inside the Basilica of St. Francis.

Return to accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

RIVER RAFTING ADVENTURE - LUNCH - MARMORE WATERFALL

Breakfast at the Agriturismo / Hotel and departure for the Valnerina to enjoy an experience of great emotional impact, amidst adrenalin and ever-new landscapes in a few strokes of the oar, rafting is certainly one of the most fun and exciting activities to be experienced in Umbria. On board an unsinkable dinghy, we launch ourselves into an adventurous descent on torrents, propelled by the water currents, among places of great natural interest that would otherwise be inaccessible: rock walls, waterfalls, woods and large meadows. Equipment provided, changing rooms with hot showers on arrival from the descent.

Afterwards, we reach a local restaurant where we will enjoy a typical Umbrian lunch with drinks included.

A few kilometres and you will reach the Marmore Waterfall, which, with its 165 m divided into 3 jumps, is the highest in Europe. The waterfall is located in the Terni Valnerina territory and in the Nera River Park, also known as the Park of the Waters, a protected area that finds its point of excellence in the waterfall: an environment extraordinarily rich in cultural, historical and environmental testimonies. You will have time to visit the waterfall's paths on your own, relax at one of the many belvederes, refresh yourself at a refreshment point, buy some souvenirs and above all take photos and selfies to bring back with you the extraordinary beauty of this place. Entrance ticket included.

Return to your accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

A TOUR OF ORVIETO AND THE MAGICAL UNDERGROUND LABYRINTH

The day begins with a visit to Orvieto, an ancient city of Etruscan origin that dominates the valley of the Paglia river from the top of the tuff cliff on which it stands. A beautiful place to visit with a unique history dating back millions of years. We take a walk through the historical centre of Orvieto and visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, better known as the Duomo, a magnificent masterpiece of Gothic and Romanesque architecture, one of the most important in Europe. Another symbol of the city, a few steps away from a breathtaking viewpoint, is St Patrick's Well, a spectacular work of 16th-century engineering.

Free lunch (can be added at extra charge).

In the afternoon, a visit to the magical underground labyrinths of the city of Orvieto. A guided tour of the Orvieto Sotterranea is the most appropriate way to get in touch with this very special cultural aspect of a city rich in history and artistic gems. Step by step mysterious and fascinating echoes speak of Etruscan Velzna, while ghosts of the mediaeval and Renaissance city emerge from the damp shadows. Where the winding underground route runs parallel to the cliff, from panoramic openings the day contends with darkness in a succession of tunnels, stairways, unexpected passages and overlapping rooms.

Return to accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

TRUFFLE HUNTING WITH TASTING - VISIT TO RASIGLIA

This morning we will reach Valtopina for a beautiful experience in the woods: an exciting Truffle Hunt. That of the truffle hunter is an ancient profession, made up of great love for the territory, intelligent observation, anticipation and also deep satisfaction. We will avail ourselves of his knowledgeable guide, assisted by an incomparable four-legged assistant, to learn the secrets of this noble tuber, the search with the truffle dog, caving and cultivation, through a nature trail of great beauty. And for those who still have some questions at the end of the truffle hunt? Don't worry, the experience will end with a delicious tasting of truffles and other typical local products in the midst of the forest that will dispel any doubts!

Umbria is also the region of ancient villages. After lunch, we suggest you go and discover one of these jewels, Rasiglia, the village of streams. The village, which preserves the typical characteristics of a medieval hamlet by gathering in an amphitheatre-like structure, is famous for its springs: strolling through the evocative alleys of the centre, it is impossible not to be enchanted by the streams that flow through the town, making it unique and fascinating. Even today, life in Rasiglia continues to be marked by water: the element that passes through weaving, wool processing and dyeing is revived through a very ancient tradition dating back to 1200.

HORSEBACK RIDING - TOUR OF PERUGIA

Riding through woods and countryside, in the midst of greenery, caressed by the wind, in contact with a specimen of such rare pride, elegance, strength, patience and intelligence, cannot be just a sport, but an experience that cannot be renounced. The beneficial and relaxing relationship that is created with the horse makes horseback riding a privileged instrument of participation in nature, approach to others and self-awareness, as well as bringing undoubted health benefits. Our guide will provide you with some valuable information on how to relate to this lovable friend and will then take you on a pleasant horseback ride, also suitable for those who have never approached this exciting experience.

After the horseback ride you can reach Perugia and visit the city on your own. Perugia is the capital of Umbria, representing many cities in one, all fascinating and all full of history. Perugia is Etruscan, Perugia is Roman, Perugia is medieval, Perugia is Renaissance! Between the many monuments, incredible works of art, Etruscan remains and the green surrounding countryside, a weekend in Umbria is a great choice for your next trip! Perugia is located in the green heart of Italy, on an acropolis set amidst the magnificent Umbrian landscape. The historical centre is small and compact: the hamlets, alleys and small houses tell endless stories. Perugia 's history dates back to the ancient Etruscans, who settled here many centuries before Christ. The Romans established an important colony here called Perusia, while in the Middle Ages the city became a free commune, remaining prosperous and powerful until the 16th century, when it came under the control of the papacy. The endless stories of Perugia and its inhabitants, its streets, views and buildings have left their mark in the streets of the historic centre, and in the works of art that you will find numerous in the city's museums. Just think of the great masters Pietro Vannucci (known as Perugino) and Bernardino Betti (known as Pinturicchio) who both worked in Perugia, and the young Raphael who was a pupil in Perugino's studio until 1504.

Free time for lunch and shopping.

THE NATURAL POOLS OF NARNI AND LAKE PIEDILUCO

Naturalistic excursion to discover a hidden jewel of rare beauty, the Mole di Narni. Walking along a pleasant itinerary through the woods, the ancient village of Stifone, an old railway and a wonderful cycle path, the excitement is kindled at the sight of the natural pools, formed by the river Nera within a narrow valley. You will be able to contemplate the crystal-clear waters in turquoise and emerald shades that caress the rocks enclosed by wild nature, a true corner of paradise.

Free lunch.

In the afternoon, we reach Piediluco, a picturesque centre whose name means 'at the foot of the sacred forest'. With a layout that has remained that of the Middle Ages, with its low, colourful houses, it is actually located on the narrow strip of land that runs between the lake and the mountain. Lake Piediluco, named after the village, is so irregular that it resembles an Alpine lake. Very picturesque and surrounded by wooded hills, it is the largest natural lake basin in the region after Lake Trasimeno.
