A fairly demanding but very satisfying route from a cycling point of view, which can be covered in about 5/6 hours. Starting out from Città di Castello, it is possible to reach Monte Santa Maria, one of the most beautiful "balconies" of the Umbrian Altotevere, a classic excursion for locals, in this case enriched by the long flat stretch of the Tiber cycle path that allows us to rejoin the "Via di Francesco" (Francis of Assisi Road) as far as the Hermitage of Buon Riposo. Here, along farm and secondary roads with marked inclines, we reach the historic village of Monte Santa Maria. The demanding climb is amply rewarded by the beauty of the views offered by the walls of Monte Santa Maria, an undisputed jewel of Umbrian landscape heritage. After a well-deserved break, we proceed on an easy descent to Trestina to take the Tiber cycle route back to Città di Castello.
