Fattoria Palombaro is located at the entrance to the picturesque and noble promontory of Monte del Lago. Set within the village walls, overlooking the lake and embraced by its olive groves, for almost a century the Fattoria has been producing the extra virgin olive oil that has made it famous with rigour and passion. It was in 1927 when Ottavio Palombaro, great-grandfather of the current owner, bought the Villa di Monte del Lago with the estate and the oil mill from Riccardo Schnabl, a friend of the famous composer Puccini. The Fattoria covers about 200 hectares that stretch along the beautiful hills surrounding Lake Trasimeno, the oldest lake in Italy in the heart of Umbria. The part destined for olive cultivation, 40 hectares, has about 12,000 trees including Moraiolo, Leccino, Frantoio and Dolce Agogia. The centuries-old olive groves overlook a territory rich and intact in terms of nature and landscape, whose ecosystem the Palombaro family has always helped to preserve and protect. Fattoria Luca Palombaro's extra virgin olive oil is offered in two types: the monocultivar 'Belfiore', produced only with the olive variety typical of Lake Trasimeno, called Dolce Agogia, whose name (in Italian dolce goccia) recounts its delicate and velvety characteristics; the other type is the 'Roncone' blend, an extra virgin oil for the whole meal, with a strong and elegant flavour, the result of a mélange of Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino. The farm, recently renovated, loves to welcome guests as welcome friends and to introduce them to the ancient techniques of oil production, the land enjoyed by the olive groves and the flavour of an oil produced with such care and attention. Each season has its own charm and unique characteristics to tell the story of the oil mill, the history of the Palombaro family and the olive groves. From Umbrian soil and inspired by nearby Tuscany, the Fattoria is also a historical landmark for the area: the ancient Ziraia, the room that houses dozens of centuries-old jars, is unique; the stone mills, the ancient presses, are all ambassadors of Italian olive oil produced as tradition commands, witnesses of how the history and quality of Italian olive oil should be a reference for the world.
