Dettaglio offerta - I borghi delle due valli
Objectives: The proposed pathway will offer children to see, touch, smell various plants, commonly used in cooking, pharmacy or cosmetics. The essential oils contained in the various plants will release odours when touched, leading them to associate them with products they normally use. A sensory journey that will allow children to enjoy the scents, colours and flavours of herbs.
Stages
1) We sit in a circle and explain that to know nature we need to touch it, feel it and smell it.
2) What does the grass in the meadow where we are sitting give us? We take off our shoes and rub our feet on the grass. What do we feel? Is it cold? Is it warm? Is it a good experience or do you not like it? Who eats grass? Who lives on the grass?
3) The smell of the hay: after this first experience, we hand over a bunch of hay and ask them to look at it. What colour is it? Is it soft? Is it coarse? then we sniff it and ask about the sensations. What does it smell like? What does it smell like? Do you like it?
4) Next we put a pile of leaves and/or herbs in front of each child to rub between their hands... then we ask everyone to smell and comment. Are they good or bad scents? Which do you like best and why? What are these herbs called? What are these leaves or herbs used for? At the end of this last experience, we all sit in a circle again and invite the children to indicate which sensory moment they liked best. In particular, two medicinal plants will be explored: lavender angustifolia miller and rosemary officinale, as they are cultivated in our land. (indicating the: characteristics, shape of the leaves, scent, flowers etc.. historical notes on aromatherapy, definition of essential oils and its many uses, we will learn how the steam distiller works for the extraction of essential oils).
