With the didactic service it has decided to offer, the Res Nova Il Colle farm becomes a window on the rural reality open to schools, groups and families from spring to autumn, thanks to the variety and seasonality of its proposals. From the philosophy of the American pedagogue John Dewey, who finds in the influence of concrete experiences and in the stimuli provided by the environment in which the individual grows up, the determining aspects for the child's development, the fundamental input to guarantee the excellence of the service.Following in these footsteps... "If I listen I remember, but if I do I learn" becomes the creed of the educational approach chosen to adopt. It will be possible to try one's hand at the industriousness of the farm, coming into contact with a reality that often escapes not only the youngest. Activities/events/courses are also planned for adults on local products: their properties, their traditional processing, their use in traditional local recipes.

Educational objectives:

-to get to know the animals that live on the farm: their food and their stable

-learn about the various phases of an animal's life: from puppy to mother

-learn the differences between the various types of diet: herbivores, carnivores and omnivores

-learn the contribution that animals make to humans and the environment in which they live

-interacting with farm animals

-learn how to care for animals

-learning the needs and respect of animals

Description of the phases:

-entry to the farm: welcome and presentation of the animals that live there

-visit of the stables/ponds allowing direct interaction with the animals

-interactive demonstration of the daily tasks involved in animal care

-graphic representation of the experience on the farm

Timing and tools of the topics:

-welcome: a) welcome greeting with presentation of the boys and girls (15') b) introductory lesson on the different animal species that live on the farm: life cycle, nutrition and possible use in agriculture (30')

-entry into the cowshed: introduction of the child to the area inhabited by the animal and choice of appropriate food from among the various provided by the farmers (15')

-interaction with the animal: direct contact, feeding and then watching the activity of restoring the stable (1-2 h)

-return to the classroom: the children are invited to participate in a playful activity aimed at classifying the animals encountered on the basis of feeding, reproduction and coat (45')

-creative production: the children are free to represent the most exciting moment of the morning using the tools available (1-2 h)

-final farewell: the children are bid farewell by the operators with a small gift and the object they created (15')

What is included

Methods:

The children will physically enter the stables by getting close to the animal, seeing its food, its waste, its cub. Playful and artistic activities involving animals will also be planned.

Tools:

tools used in the actual running of the farm, teaching materials (blackboard, chalk, coloured pencils, plasticine, coloured cards and various stationery)
