In Orvieto we will discover the superb façade of the Duomo with all the explanations about its history, then we will walk through the historical centre to admire its main monuments (public buildings, squares, towers, traces of the Templars, etc.) and to discover the most characteristic and least known corners. We will enter ancient churches, usually overlooked by tourists but worthy of a guided tour, and we will be able to observe beautiful landscapes from the top of the cliff. This is where the Via Romea, an important pilgrimage route, passed, which then continued on to Rome.

In the afternoon we will move on to Todi, a town with a medieval appearance perched on a hill overlooking the Tiber valley. We will visit the Temple of Consolation, a splendid Renaissance building almost certainly by the great architect Donato Bramante. We will ascend (free shuttle bus or lift) to the centre where the magnificent square with its medieval public buildings and superb cathedral opens out. Finally we will enter the Gothic church of the patron saint of Todi, S. Fortunato, where we will find the tomb of Jacopone, one of the first poets in the vernacular, at the origins of Italian dairy.

In Orvieto we will see the superb façade of the Duomo with all the explanations about its history, then we will walk through the historical centre to admire its main monuments (public buildings, squares, towers, traces of the Templars, etc.) and to discover characteristic and lesser-known corners. We will enter ancient churches, usually overlooked by tourists but worthy of a guided tour, and we will be able to observe beautiful landscapes from the top of the cliff. The Via Romea, an important pilgrimage route, passed through here on its way to Rome.

In the afternoon we will move on to Todi, a medieval town perched on a hill overlooking the Tiber valley. We will visit the elegant temple of the Consolation in pure Renaissance style, almost certainly designed by the great architect Donato Bramante. Then we will go up to the centre (free shuttle bus) and head to the piazza, a true open-air salon, where the three mediaeval public buildings and the cathedral stand. From here, we will ascend to the church of the patron saint St Fortunato, Gothic and decorated with curious little sculptures. Inside, in the crypt, we will find the tomb of a poet from the origins of Italian literature: Jacopone da Todi.
